The Weather In Thailand
If you are planning on going to Thailand there are a few considerations you should make in terms of the time period in which to go. Obviously if you can only travel to Thailand at a certain non-negotiable time of the year then this page is useless to you, though on second thought it could enlighten you for your next vacation:
There are typically four considerations of seasons to take into account; wet and dry seasons, and high and low seasons tourist-wise.
Dry Season
Thailand’s dry season is normally between November to the end of March. This doesn’t mean there is no rain, but rather not a lot of it. Most days are very hot, and rain can be very refreshing in their afternoons. Though you usually won’t see whole days rained out, you might encounter the occasional drizzle here ad there.
The north and south also differ in their dryness, the south getting much more rain usually than the north.
Wet Season
The wet season is characterized by very warm and muggy days, lots of tropical rains, and many cloudy days. Most days are sunny and beautiful, though you may find yourself snuggled in your hotel for a couple of days due to heavy rains.
High Season (November 1 – April 1)
Usually refers to the time when most tourist swarm the popular tourist places like the islands, Phuket, and Chiang Mai. Hotel prices are usually at their peaks and rooms are scarce for those seeking refuge in budget hotels. Luxury hotels usually always have available rooms, but high-season vacationers should book in advanced and take extra spending into account.
Low Season (April 1 – October 31)
Normally, this is when there are very few tourists around Thailand, and is actually the best time to go. All hotel prices are low and negotiable, rooms are in abundance, and the beaches are relatively people free. Though this is the wet season, you will find yourslef enjoying much better service and prices, and fewer crowds.
