Best Budget Hotels in Bangkok Review

If you’re planning a trip to Bangkok then you should consider staying in a budget hotel. Budget hotels in Bangkok surprisingly offers lots of in room amenities and even have small pools and fitness rooms for guest to enjoy. The best thing about staying in a budget hotel in Bangkok is that you don’t have to worry about sacrificing room quality and hotel service.

Budget hotels in Bangkok to me range between $25 USD and $50 USD. And believe me, the rate you pay goes along way in terms of service and room quality. You’ll often find that budget hotels in Bangkok have such items as flat screen TVs, Wi-Fi Internet access, international cable channels, personal room safe, a small gym and pool to wind the day down.

Now most people off the top of their heads think budget hotels are usually far away from all of the main attractions. Which is why it’s so cheap. Well you’d be pleased to know that in Bangkok you can be in the center of activity for $35 USD to $45 USD per night and those rates include taxes and daily breakfast, usually a buffet with an omelets station.

That’s what I really find unique about the hotel business in Bangkok. Anywhere else in the west, hotel location is key in determining how much guests will be paying. In Bangkok and much anywhere else in Thailand you will find the poshest 5 star hotels next to a budget hotel that share the same brisk business with drastic price differences. Personally I’ve never stayed in a 5 star hotel nor paid the 5 star rates because quite frankly I am very happy with the budget hotel rates and the quality they provide.

With that said there are some trade offs obviously whenever you stay in a budget hotel. Staff may not be fluent in English or any other foreign language so communication might be an issue. But be patient, usually Thai staff find a way to understand your request and come through. Also not all rooms in budget hotels may be the same and you might end up with a less then perfect room. But to be honest this can happen in the best of all hotels.

If such a situation arises I’ve got a great tip for you. Before you go downstairs to request a room change, dress as smart as possible. Put on a clean long sleeve button shirt, a good pair of pants and shoes and approach reception or a manager with some confidence. Thai people are a class based society and the higher you look the higher you are in the social order even if you have a $1 in your bank account. Even if you use this approach in a budget hotel you will get more respect and expedient service. If a room is actually available you will get it. On the other hand if you dress in flip flops, tank top and swim trunks you’ll be lucky if someone actually pays attention to you. Even if you don’t have a button down shirt and shoes at least look presentable. I think you get the idea.

Staying in budget hotels in Bangkok is a very good option for all travelers to Bangkok. To be honest even if you can afford to spend more, why would you? You can use the money you’ve saved on other things back home.
